If you have been keeping up with Korean Beauty recently, you probably have come across the term Glass skin (also known as “Yuri-Pibu” in Korean). It is the ideal skin type in Korea, meaning you have bright, dewy, poreless skin as if it were a piece of glass. When I first heard about “glass skin”, I thought it was another fad that required an expensive routine of serums and creams to fullfill this trend. But after some trial and error(and a few DIY disasters), I discovered fully natural methods to achieve the dewy and translucent glass skin look.
Let me tell you, achieving glass skin does not mean emptying your wallet on fancy products! I have been on my glass skin journey for years now, and I have gained a couple of tricks up my sleeve.
If you don’t have time to spare though …. I have briefly provided a routine for you to achieve glass skin results the quickest. This method requires you to purchase skincare products. However, I will share with you my carefully crafted skincare routine, purely with natural remedies after this section. Stick around and find out.
Below is the Korean glass skin routine
- Double cleanse
- Exfoliation
- Toner
- Serum
- Moisturiser
- Sunscreen
Step 1: Double cleansing
Use an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup, sunscreen, and sebum. Then follow up with a water-based cleanser to remove remaining impurities.
Step 2:Exfoliation
Use a gentle exfoliator with BHAs (like salicylic acid) and AHAs (like lactic acid) 2-3 times per week.
Step 3: Toner
Use a toner to balance skin pH and prep skin for better absorption of products.
Step 4: Serum
Apply a serum with hydrating and brightening ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin C.
Step 5: Moisturizer
Lock in hydration with a nourishing moisturizer, remember that we layer the “thickest products” at the end of our makeup routine
Step 6: Sunscreen
Finish with a daily sunscreen to protect against UV damage.

Natural remedies:
Remember that layering products are only one factor towards obtaining your glass skin, let’s not neglect our lifestyle and dietary habits.
Remember to drink water!
I can’t stress enough about hydration. Water is your best friend 🙂 I used to think that afternoon coffee would be considered as hydration… silly me (spoiler alert: It doesn’t )
Now I challenge myself to drink at least a liter of water per day. The difference is noticeable ever since picking up this habit.
Occasionally if I’m fancy, I may add some lemon or cucumber slices to elevate my water up a notch.
Food diet
I always live by the quote “You are what you eat”. One of the largest game changers has been incorporating more fruits and veggies into my diet. I know, I know, it sounds like something your mum would say but trust me on this. Berries, leafy greens, and foods rich in omega-3s (like salmon and walnuts) have made a noticeable difference in my skin’s texture and glow. I’ve even started having a green smoothie for breakfast most days. It took some getting used to (and a few questionable-looking concoctions), but now I look forward to it.
Getting enough sleep
Don’t forget about sleep. I used to be a night owl and I do admit to finding myself scrolling on social media way past midnight. But since, I have tried to rectify this habit, getting 7-8 hours of sleep each night. To further improve my sleep, I use silk pillowcases. They do prevent wrinkles from showing up on your face as well as keeping my hair straight!
Facial massage
I used to think this was just some fancy spa treatment, but it’s extra easy to achieve at home. You can either use a jade roller or gua sha. Gentle upward strokes help improve circulation and give you a natural glow. Just be careful not to pull on your skin, we are aiming for gentle pressure.
DIY face masks
The combinations are endless, from rice water to cucumber, you can make plenty of DIY facemasks. Nowadays, I pledge to use a honey and oatmeal mask every Sunday night.
Mix a tablespoon of:
-Raw honey
-Ground oatmeal
Voila… You got yourself a moisturizing and gentle exfoliating mask
Leave it on for 15mins while you catch up on your favorite TV show and you are good to go
Remember to be patient with your skin. It has taken months for me to see extremely significant changes, and sometimes my skin decides to break out of a sudden. Embrace the process, have fun with it, and remember that your skin is beautiful 🙂
There you have it, my top tips on how to achieve glass skin naturally, without products. You won’t break the bank either. Give these a try and who knows?
